So...I thought you just might like to know... WE ARE ON THE WAIT LIST! I got the email today while spending time with my sweet 1 year old Caleb. We promptly called his mommy while she was at work and told here the exciting news! The paper chase has ended and now the next time we hear from Gladney it will be with a referral! It has been a crazy 5 month journey so far and I'm sure the pains of the wait list won't be any less intense! Please be in prayer for us as we wait for our son!

Ruined for life
I feel very broken in my life right now. I am not fully aware of all the reasons. I am sure my longing to bring Samuel (we think this is going to be his name) home is a huge part of it. Christ has really begun tenderizing me these past few weeks. My heart is breaking for the poor in spirit as well as the materially poor. I hate to admit it, but I haven’t been one to truly feel affected by poverty or the potential of a life spent without knowing my Lord and Savior. I guess it is about time for some of me to pass away (flesh) and to take on more of an eternal perspective. I am daily humbled by what we have at our disposal and begging Christ to give me wisdom with His resources he has in trusted to us. I so desire to be wise with all that I have; it is hard to always know what that looks like. O God I want to hold all I have with an open hand before you!
With the brokenness there is life and joy. Only in Christ is this possible. I long for the days of being in Ethiopia. I know it will ruin me even more …….I can’t wait!!! Speaking of waiting, we are a huge step closer to meeting our son. We just received our CIS approval yesterday in the mail. I would bet we will be on the official wait list by the end of the week. This means it will roughly be about a year from now that we will be taking our second visit to Ethiopia and bringing Samuel home.
Prayers:
• Spiritual blessings on Samuel
• That he would know Christ as the bread of life
• Of course for perfect health for our son
• For both of our children to love Jesus and love others, would this be what defines them.
• Financial wisdom and provision for the rest of the adoption process
• Blessings on Caleb as Josh and I will be gone at least 2 weeks in Ethiopia this next year.
• Discernment for Josh and I to know how to specifically prayer for our children.

Long awaited update
Okay, so a lot has happened since our last post. Let’s start with the progress with our adoption. We are chugging along, but the path still seems so long. We have now completed basically everything we can do and are truly in the waiting game.
Our homestudy went great once it got started. We had a slight mishap with our living room walls the night before the homestudy. AKA I (Katie) messed the walls up and we had to repaint the ENTIRE living room, entry way, and hall way. But as always we were blessed with friends and family who came and bailed us out at 8pm Sunday night. On the positive side our living room looks wonderful now!
So we have completed our homestudy and have had our appointment for CIS fingerprinting. I think we are only a month or so out from being on the waiting list. I can’t wait to officially be on the waiting list for our little boy! We have had one big change. A couple of weeks ago Ethiopia passed a new international adoption law that says that we will have to travel twice to Ethiopia. That means Josh and I will have to travel for the Ethiopian court date, which normally our agency just represents us. But now we both get to meet our precious son just a little sooner but then have to leave him for another 3-6 weeks until we go back to finalize the adoption with the US consulate and bring him home! So that means more time off from work, leaving Caleb for another week and more money. BUT Jesus knows that and some how will use this to be a blessing to all involved!

Homestudy in a Week!
In exactly one week we have our homestudy. A homestudy is a time when a social worker comes to your home and interviews your for like 6ish hours... I will be honest with you its kind of nerve racking to think about...They ask all sorts of questions about why you want to adopt, about your childhood, and lots of "what if" type questions just to see how you might react. I think it will prove to be no big deal, but it makes me a little nervous anyway. I was forced to draw a diagram of our house and come up with the official "WILSON FIRE ESCAPE PLAN." I thought up just putting WINDOW on a blank sheet of paper, but I think they're looking for a little more than that...

Welcome!
If you are reading this then somehow you have stumbled into our little world. This blog is dedicated to family, faith, and our journey of adoption. For quite sometime Katie and I have known that the Lord was going to call us to adopt... It wasn't until recently though that proverbial light turned green and we slammed our foot on the accelerator. So, at the end of January we decided that we were going to adopt a baby boy from Africa, or Ethiopia more specifically. We have been going strong for about a month now and there are already lots of stories to tell. You'll here some of those, as well as others I'm sure, until we bring home our little boy (prayfully in about 12-18 months OR SOONER!)
So please join with us in praying through this whole process... Ask the Lord to keep our baby safe, to protect us from snags along the way, and to prepare us for the next stage in our journey through life!
